POLL: Which book should I read next? You decide!

I haven’t had one of these in a little while, but I noticed I was feeling pretty indecisive about some upcoming books on my TBR list.  I’m currently reading two books (one is a trilogy which I’ll likely complete), but after that, I will read whichever book wins this poll! A little help here people!

Which book should I read next?

BDB only because I am interested in your take on this juggernaut of a series. I made the mistake of a sale induced purchase of the last installment.(Lover Reborn I think?) I’m not usually a big fan of PNR, things that wrap up that fast don’t really appeal to me right now, but SOOOOO many people wax poetic about this series that I gave in. I was under the impression these were more or less stand alone stories so I thought I’d be ok. I really was not impressed at all. Caveman meets thug! Should I go start at the beginning?

I’ve only read the first two books, so it’s hard to say. Book 1 was really NOT awesome. Book 2 was definitely better, but I read it over a year ago which shows you how much I’m motivated to keep up. I keep pushing this series back and not feeling bad about it, though Book 3 is supposedly the best. At this rate I’m reading them slower than the latest books are published. They SHOULD be standalones since each brother gets a book, but it couldn’t hurt to get some back story, I guess…

Vampire Academy and Daughters of Smoke and Bone are YA. And they seem to be leading the poll. I read some YA, it just has to be really good.

  3. I’d go for Lying Season; I’ve heard so much positive about the Experiment in Terror series, have a few but haven’t read yet.

I’ve read the first 3 books and I enjoyed them. It’s just that I read it all at once so I kind of have my fill of Dex and Perry for now. I want to read more, I’m just not sure if I feel like it quite yet. But that’s why I’m getting your opinion!

I know it is, that’s why I’m sort of holding it off. I’m leaving it to the masses, lol. Smoke & Bone appears to be sloooowly pulling away though…

I loved Vampire Academy & Daughter of Smoke & Bone :) . You can’t go wrong either way. However, I think everything needs Richelle Mead in their life!

  6. Hi Erika,
Just set up the email subscription. I voted for VA, love Richelle Mead. The books surprised me when I first read them a few years back. The cover was different I think and I didn’t have high hopes because of it. I think I like Bloodlines more than VA now. At least until Game Board of the Gods comes out.

Cool, Anne! Well, VA was far enough ahead that I’m actually reading Book 3 as we speak. That Bloodlines is better is quite tempting! Not sure if I plan to read it directly after VA though. So many other books! It’s a good sign that I’m liking VA enough to read through them back to back though.

      • Yeah they are addicting. I was a little sad when VA ended but I like it better when a series isn’t a trilogy yet not seemingly infinite either. Having a spinoff helps THE END blues. I’ve heard a lot of people who aren’t so in love with Bloodlines mostly because Sidney is full on type A personality like Reese in Election. But I like her character she’s a different voice for YA and her growth is gradual. She’s not fixed by book one. Love how she twists the usual vampire witch lore to make it new. You can tell Mead put a lot of thought and planning into the series and well it’s all about Adrian. :)

Interesting. Makes me all the more curious when I finally get around to them. I only got a taste of Adrian in Book 2, and I’m pretty early on in Book 3 so my eyes are on him now!

  8. I might have to reread VA now. I thought he was introduced later in the series. I think Dmitri is a very straight forward character. He’s fully formed when you meet him, his character arc is more external. Adrian is inherently more complex you don’t really appreciate this about his character until Bloodlines. And I like that he’s a different kind of bad boy.
